I got a mani-pedi for the first time this week! This was the third time that I have ever been in a nail salon, and as someone who is new to the experience, I find a lot of enjoyment in watching the process. The scrubs, colors, files, hot rocks, and lotion fascinate me.
During the appointment, the TV was on in the background and the news was playing. I wasn’t actively listening but the reporter caught my attention when she said that one act of kindness can impact up to 125 people.
The logic behind this number is that when you are kind to someone, typically they spread kindness to 5 more people, who spread kindness to 5 more people, who spread kindness to 5 more people, totaling 125 people from that single act.1
That number is insane to me. If I took thirty seconds of my day to do something nice, you’re telling me that those thirty seconds can impact 125 people?! Okay, sign me up!
What about the Good News?
I instantly starting wondering what the statistics would look like if I told one person about the Good News of Jesus Christ. If I explained to one person just how much their Father in Heaven loves them and how He sent His son to Earth so that we could live forever in communion with Him, how many people would my words affect? Would that one person go on to tell others what they heard?
I believe God’s Word is so much more impactful than a compliment or nice gesture. God has the power to transform someone’s entire life more than an act of kindness could ever do.
I’m not saying drop the kindness. Quite the opposite! As a believer, I know the kindest thing I can do for someone is tell them just how much God loves them. And maybe by God’s grace, I could partake in their encounter with Jesus for the first time.
You never know.
So go out and spread the Good News.
love this !!
